About

Carl Peel is a Los Angeles native. He holds a B.A, in English and Creative Writing from UCLA, and a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from UCLA Extension. He has worked as a music producer for Universal Production Music for over 25 years. He has also occassionally worked as a freelance copywriter, tackling speeches, advertising, magazine articles, and product descriptions. He has published several short stories in literary journals, and been shortlisted for some prizes for a novel in progress. He was a PEN Emerging Voices Fellow for his writing, but feels forever emerging. He has a deep love of California Native Plants, language learning, aimless walks and discovering neighborhoods, and, indeed, all travel-related activities, especially eating – so unique! He is an expert in the use of sarcasm according to his parents and other loved ones. He has been an LAFC (Los Angeles Football Club – our local MLS Soccer team) supporter since its inception, much to the chagrin of his wife who thought she had married a musician and a book nerd, which usually equates with no sports watching. But alas…

He is currently continuing to work producing music and is searching for good volunteer opportunities teaching English as a second language.
